Love this little video

It's a short clip about what is "Letterpress"; I think it's so cute and explanatory

I always forget

Never cut projects while on my bed; scraps always make their way all over my comforter...

Visual Life

I guess I'm on a sort of video kick, but this video, featuring Michael Wolff, is just lovely.
It focuses on looking at life in a different way; slowly and meticulously. The way he notices things is somehow magical; it's like he sees beautiful details of life that everyone else is missing out on. But really, everyone could see them, if they looked.

One particular quote I loved was this:
“I see seeing as a muscular exercise, like I see curiosity. It’s kind of being open really, if you walk around with a head full of preoccupation you’re not going to notice anything in your visual life. I am obsessively interested in everything, and that gets expressed more through my eyes than my ears."

A video on Illustrators

This really makes me want to draw. Or learn to draw and then draw all the time. I keep dabbling with the idea of art classes, because I just love art so much, but I don't know how successful they'd be.
Either way, this video is great.

Random Helpful Gadget

I just ordered one for fun. I always get so tired trying to read in bed, maybe this will be the answer!

This is called the "Thumb Thing Book Page Holder and Bookmark"

Everything Pallets

Lately every other DIY project I see involves pallets; it seems like an odd phenomenon considering these things are usually surrounded by forklifts and such. But people are finding all sorts of things to upcycle these things.

My main association with pallets is goats; when my sister and I were younger, we somehow got our parents to get us goats. Now, you must take into account that we live in the suburbs, and no one really keeps goats in their backyard. But we were homeschooled and 4-H just fit in with some many of the other homeschooler stereotypes.

Anyways, my parents would get free pallets and put them in the backyard for the goats, because they enjoyed walking and climbing on them. They weren't the only ones; I have a faint memory of tap dancing on one of them with a fountain ponytail on top of my head....

Back to pallets! Here's some projects I loved:

Pallet Couch

Pallet Ottoman

This room is just fabulous; the bedding, the lanterns and the frames. Uh-mazing.
How about a Pallet Garden?

Pallet Headboard

Take an Afternoon Nap

Afternoon naps always feel like the best thing in the world. As an adult, we are not allotted a "nap time" every afternoon; when you slip away into a nap at 4 o'clock in the afternoon, you get that feeling of nostalgia mixed with a slight tinge of guilt that you're sleeping at 4 PM on a Wednesday afternoon.

I took a nap this afternoon and woke up around 7:30, disorientated as ever. Now I am awake as a night owl as it nears 1 AM, on account of the three hour power nap I snuck in today.

Here's a few pictures that might make you miss that infamous hour known as "nap time":

Chicago

There are a million versions of this song; the original, acoustic, adult contemporary, multi-personality disorder version. Ok, maybe just four, but it's a lot. However, this one is my favorite:

Fingerprints in the World

I love fingerprints, they're unique and timeless. A thumbprint from 20 years ago looks the same as a thumbprint from today. Fingerprints have become something to look down upon, as if they should only be used when getting arrested, but I love them in all sorts of environments.

Lately I've seen a lot of couples incorporating fingerprints into their wedding and I think it's a pretty cute idea. Most use it on invitations or as a guestbook idea, but they're starting to pop up even as art pieces in homes.

This one's for a band; I think this is such a cute idea.
This is a PAPERCUT of their fingerprints. Simply UH-mazing.

How to get curls without heat, rollers or a whole lot of effort

This girl is a genius. Tutorials rarely ever work for my hair because it's awfully frizzy and wavy and never wants to cooperate with me. But I've done tried this method twice, both times with pretty good results.

Tip: It really does work better on dry hair; the second time I tried it, I thought I could get away with slightly damp hair, and I ended up rewrapping my hair in the morning. Even if you blow dry it first, you'll get better results from dry hair.

I've seen a lot of creative uses for paint chips recently that make me want to raid my local hardware store...

Easter Garland

Paper Punch Garland
Bunting
Phonics Game

Place Mats
Place Cards

I'll never be a cheerleader...

But I do appreciate pom poms. Here's a couple of favorites I've seen around town:

Made from yarn....

From Tissue paper...
From Old T-Shirts....

From Scrap Fabric

I'm not getting sick...

But if I were, these are my absolute favorite things to do when I'm sick:

Crawl under a down comforter...

Eat Grilled Cheese and Tomato Soup

Watch too much TV
Lots of this.
Not a lot of this

Going to Great Lengths

I've been toying with the ideas of maxi skirts for awhile, but being 5' 1" doesn't really make it an easy task. Here's some looks that I ran across and have inspired me to give those longs skirts another try.
